Scope of Services Approved for Development of Affordable Single-Family Homes on Jaylen Watkins Street
We’re thrilled to announce a significant step forward for the Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr. Blvd. redevelopment area! Following the recommendation of the Advisory Board on April 3rd, 2024, the Community Redevelopment Agency (CRA) has officially approved the Scope of Services for the Request for Proposals (RFP) for the development of 26 single-family homes at 2200 Jaylen Watkins Street.
This project represents a major investment in creating affordable housing opportunities for low- and moderate-income families in Fort Myers. The 11.43-acre site has the potential to transform the neighborhood, offering residents a chance to build a secure and thriving future.
The CRA is committed to finding a qualified developer with the expertise and vision to bring this project to life. Through a collaborative effort with the City of Fort Myers Procurement Services division, the RFP will be issued to attract a diverse pool of qualified candidates.
The chosen developer will be responsible for constructing 26 single-family homes that meet the specific needs of our community. We envision a development that fosters a strong sense of place, offering attractive and functional living spaces for residents.
We encourage interested developers to stay tuned for the official release of the RFP. We will share details through the City of Fort Myers website and social media channels.
This project is a testament to the CRA’s commitment to revitalizing neighborhoods and fostering a more inclusive Fort Myers. We look forward to collaborating with a dedicated developer to bring these high-quality, affordable homes to life.
