The Downtown Storm Mitigation and Resiliency Grant Program empowers businesses in Downtown Fort Myers to prepare for and recover from severe weather. As a reimbursement-based initiative, it covers up to 75% of eligible storm-hardening and resilience investments, with awards of up to $100,000 per business. Funds may be used for installing impact-resistant windows or deployable flood barriers, structural reinforcements, temporary power systems, post-storm cleanup equipment, and engineering assessments. Businesses located in the CRA’s designated downtown area—including nonprofits on a case-by-case basis—are eligible, with priority given to those demonstrating clear need or historic and community value.
