CRA Acquires Land adjacent to McCollum Hall
FORT MYERS, Fla. (April 27, 2026) – The Fort Myers Community Redevelopment Agency recently approved the acquisition of 2755, 2769 and 2775 Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. Blvd. in Fort Myers for $650,000.
The purchase is .68 acres of vacant land with a single building on one parcel to be used to stimulate economic development through redevelopment and mixed-use investment in the Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr. Community Redevelopment Area.
“This purchase represents a strategic opportunity to support redevelopment initiatives within a key corridor of the redevelopment area,” said Michele Hylton-Terry, executive director of the Fort Myers CRA. “These three parcels sit next to historic McCollum Hall, completing the CRA’s acquisition of land from Cranford Avenue to Palm Avenue. This is in alignment with the plan to restore McCollum Hall and develop the area in accordance with the Dr. MLK Jr. and Veronica S. Shoemaker Boulevards Revitalization Plan.The purchase is funded by the CRA’s Dr. MLK Jr. Redevelopment Area trust fund.

The Fort Myers Community Redevelopment Agency was created in 1984 by the City of Fort Myers, Florida, under Florida Statute Chapter 163. The Fort Myers City Council members, sitting as the Community Redevelopment Agency Board of Commissioners, oversee the Agency’s programs and policies. The Fort Myers CRA office is located at 1400 Jackson Street in the historical downtown River District.
